Celebrating a hundred years since the birth of famed Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini, the inaugural edition ofRed Sea International Film Festival will host an exhibition titled“When Fellini Dreamt of Picasso” which links the filmmaker's works with the inspiration he drew from Picasso's paintings.

The festival, which is scheduled to take place between 12 and 21 March, will hold a special opening ceremony for the exhibition on 14 March.

The exhibition will run for five weeks.

According to the festival's organisers, the exhibition "sheds light on the story of how many of Fellini’s films were inspired by Picasso’s paintings, though the two great artists only met once.”

The exhibition has also been shown in France, and includes posters and other paraphernalia from Fellini’s films.

It will be on display at the Al-Majlis Al-Baladi exhibition space in Historic Jeddah, Al Balad.

The inaugural Red Sea International Film Festival is being organised by the Red Sea Film Festival Foundation, the first Saudi independent non-profit organisation with an official mandate to promote film culture.

Among the foundation's aims is to shed light on Saudi cinema, promote international cinema to local audiences, and support Saudi and international filmmakers, while nurturing the cultural scene.
