MENA, , Monday 9 Mar 2020
The strategy aims to increase the dependence on energy sources, such as natural gas and electricity, and local components in vehicles

Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi asked officials on Monday to launch a national strategy to localise the automobile industry and its related industries, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

El-Sisi's remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the ministers of electricity, military production, public enterprise, transport, trade and industry, and the chairmen of the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation and the Administrative Control Authority.

El-Sisi's directives come within the framework of the state's plan to manufacture automobiles in Egypt in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 and its development goals.

The strategy aims to increase the dependence on energy sources, such as natural gas and electricity, and local components in vehicles.

The meeting reviewed the strategy's pillars, including the adoption of the related policies, establishing the required infrastructure, and offering incentives.
