Cairo’s El Sawy Culturewheel launches mobile-phone film competition

El Sawy Culturewheel (El-Sakia) in Zamalek has announced that submissions for its competition for films produced on mobile phones are now open, with the deadline set for 4 May.

The El-Sakia Mobile Competition accepts both feature films and documentaries. They must have been produced in 2020 and have a duration of between 2 and 5 minutes.

The motto of this year's festival and competition is "Stay at Home," aiming to encourage people to stay at home and transform it into a creative space.

The jury panel includes Egyptian artists and directors.

The winning film will receive a cash prize and will be screened during the Mobile Film Festival. which will take place between 9 and 11 May on El-Sakia’s YouTube channel.

A selection of films participating in the competition will be also included in the three-day festival.
