Egypt records 399 coronavirus cases Friday; infections toll rises to 11,228

Egypt confirmed 399 new coronavirus cases on Friday, with the total infections since the first case was discovered in February reaching 11,228, the health ministry said.

The country also recorded 21 new deaths, with the fatalities toll rising to 592, the health ministry added in its daily statement.

The ministry also said that 173 patients have been discharged from hospitals after fully recovering from the highly-contagious virus, which causes the COVID-19 disease. The total number of fully recovered patients increased to 2,799.

The number of patients whose PCR results changed from positive to negative has become 3,363, including those who have fully recovered.

Egypt has recently set out a three-stage plan that will see life gradually return to normal as the country learns to live with the coronavirus.
