Egypt’s Court of Cassation has gradually resumed operations on Saturday, state-run MENA reported.
The gradual resumption of court proceedings includes high appeals courts and a number of lower courts, said the news agency.
The resumption comes under strict precautionary measures set out by the cabinet to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Most court proceedings have been suspended since March due to the coronavirus.
Egypt signalled in the past few weeks that it is looking to pull back on some of the heavy restrictions introduced in recent months, and has urged the public to maintain social distancing and other preventive measures when these changes are made.
In recent weeks, Egypt has resumed a number of governmental services, including licensing vehicles, as well as some court sessions. It plans to gradually resume services starting this week.
A nationwide curfew has been declared from 8 pm, instead of 5 pm, starting Saturday for two weeks, marking a gradual reopening of a country heavily affected by the pandemic.
