Egypt's Elneny scores on Arsenal return amid future uncertainty
Ahram Online , Tuesday 25 Aug 2020

Arsenal’s Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny scored an impressive goal in a friendly against MK Dons 4-1 on Tuesday, as the Gunners prepare for the Community Shield Cup final against Liverpool on Saturday.

The defensive midfielder returned to the Gunners this summer after spending the last season on loan to Turkish side Besiktas.

His fate remains unclear, with several reports linking him with Turkish sides Galatasaray and Trabzonspor, especially after Arsenal reportedly informing him that he does not feature in the club's future plans.

Elneny has been at Arsenal since 2016 but has failed to establish himself at the Emirates and has fallen out of favour, especially during the tenure of coach Unai Emery.

His lack of playing time has cost him his place in the Egyptian national team, having been dropped by coach Hossam El-Badry in March for the first time since he made his international debut in 2011.
