Ahly are set to face Morocco's Wydad in a two-legged semifinal of the CAF Champions League on 17 October
Ahly's South African coach Pitso Mosimane has expressed worry over the injury of a number of his team's players ahead of the clash against Morocco's Wydad in the CAF Champions League semifinals this month.
Mosimane started his mission with the Red Devils on Sunday by beating Arab Contractors 1-0 in an Egyptian Premier League game that witnessed the injury of the team's first choice goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi.
The team is missing several key players with the likes of defenders Rami Rabia, Saad Samir, Mahmoud Metwalli and midfielders Mohamed Mahmoud and Karim "Nedved" Walid.
"We played well against Arab Contractors, but it wasn't an excellent performance," Mosimane told the post game's press conference.
"You all know that I need to work with the defence and wingers," he said.
Ahly are set to face Morocco's Wydad in a two-legged semifinal of the CAF Champions League on 17 October.
"I can't decide on the final starting lineup for the game against Wydad, as we still have two games in the league," Mosimane said.
"I will speak with my assistants to rotate the squad but I need to balance between resting the players to avoid injuries and work my methods with the team,"
"Ahly's current squad is able to win the Egyptian Cup as well as the CAF Champions League," the South African tactician added.
The Egyptian Premier League champions Ahly reached the Egyptian Cup quarterfinals after beating Tersana 2-1 in the 16th round on Wednesday.
