Egyptian TikToker Hadeer El-Hadi sentenced to 2 years in prison over suggestive videos

A Cairo economic court has sentenced Egyptian young woman Hadeer El-Hadi to two years in prison and a fine of EGP 100,000 over charges of “inciting debauchery” on TikTok.
The ruling can still be appealed.
El-Hadi was arrested in July for posting “obscene” videos from an apartment she had rented in Giza’s October Gardens district, according to the prosecutor-general.
El-Hadi has 749,000 subscribers on the popular Chinese social media network TikTok, where she posts short videos of herself lip syncing and dancing to Egyptian songs.
El-Hadi also has an Instagram account with over 200,000 subscribers, as well as other accounts on sites like YouTube and Snapchat
Over the past few months, Egyptian authorities have arrested numerous female TikTok users who are known for controversial content that authorities describe as “violating family values and principles.”
In July, a Cairo economic court sentenced TikTokers Haneen Hossam and Mawada El-Adham, along with three others, to two years in prison and ordered them to pay a fine of EGP 300,000. The ruling is still subject to appeal.
