Egypt’s Sisi urges adoption of coronavirus measures during visit to New Administrative Capital
The president inspected construction sites and projects to follow up on the workflow and the project completion rate
Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi urged the need to adopt precautionary measures to protect workers from the coronavirus, as he inspected construction sites at the new capital, the presidency said.
The president on Sunday inspected a number of construction sites and projects in the New Administrative Capital to follow up on the workflow, the presidential spokesman said.
El-Sisi inspected the governmental district, which houses government buildings and agencies, including the cabinet and the two chambers of parliament, the presidential spokesman said. The district is built on 1.5 million square metres.
He also visited the building of the Islamic cultural Centre, the banks district, and several housing districts.
The government is set to move its headquarters to the new capital next year, after plans to move it by mid-2020 were delayed due to the pandemic.
The 700 square kilometre capital, launched in 2015 by the president, will have the capacity to house more than 6.5 million people.
