The defendant allegedly stabbed the child to death after he was unable to get to the father for revenge
Egypt's Prosecutor-General Hamada El-Sawy referred a man charged with the premeditated murder of a Sudanese child in Giza last month to criminal court, a statement by the prosecution read on Sunday.
The prosecution said the decision is based upon the testimonies of four eyewitnesses and the defendant’s confession during investigations and before the specialised court tasked with extending his detention pending further investigation.
His referral came also upon confessions he wrote that were found at the crime scene disclosing his intention to kill the victim, according to the prosecution.
The defendant confessed to murdering the child, accoring to an earlier statement by the prosecution.
He admitted a financial dispute with the child’s father was the motive of his crime, according to the prosecution.
Prior to the murder, the defendant and the victim’s father had a physical altercation during which the father inflicted a knife wound on the suspect’s wrist, the prosecution said.
In retaliation, the defendant later stabbed the child to death after he was unable to get to the father for revenge, according to the statement.
The prosecution’s statement stressed that all legal measures are adopted to pursue justice in cases of assault no matter the nationality of those involved.
