Egypt’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Mohamed Farid visited Arish city on Thursday to follow up on both military operations and the return of everyday life following the current military procedures against terrorist organisations in North Sinai.

According to a statement by the Egyptian Armed Forces, Farid made a visit to the permanent operations center in Arish city to follow up on counter-terrorism operations and the security measures held there.

He also inspected a number of security checkpoints as well as outposts in several areas and at a number of educational, administrative and developmental facilities to ensure that the citizens’ interests are well served and that the essence of daily life is not affected by the army's military operations that have been launched against terrorist groups.

The chief of staff also met with a number of army personnel and conveyed President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's and Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki’s greetings to them.

In the statement Farid said that the army was keen on providing the residents of Sinai with all their needs, praising their constant support towards the army in its war against terrorism and efforts to protect the security and stability of their country against any threat.

Egypt's security forces have been fighting terrorists based in the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula since 2013.
