Egypt’s Sisi discusses Libya developments with Italian PM in phone call

President El-Sisi and Italian PM also discussed boosting bilateral investments, military relations


Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed a number of issues on Friday, with the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, above them the latest developments in Libya, the Egyptian Presidency said.

According to the Egyptian Presidency, El-Sisi discussed, via the telephone call he received from Conte, the bilateral relations between the two countries especially the economic and military relations.

The Egyptian president and the Italian PM also discussed the current joint cooperation in the Italian student Giulio Regeni's murder investigation.

It was also stated that Conte stressed his country's keenness to continue boosting the bilateral relations between the two countries especially the commercial, investment and military relations in addition to the extensive coordination and consultation with Egypt concerning regional issues in the East Mediterranean and the Middle East.

From his side, President El-Sisi praised the distinguished relations between the two countries in the different political, military and economic fields in addition to their cooperation to face many challenges in the East Mediterranean especially radicalism and terrorism.
