This is the ninth consecutive day for the country's health ministry to register daily infections toll more than 300 daily cases
Egypt reported 357 new coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the total infection tally to 114,832 since the outbreak began in February.
The health ministry also reported 12 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 6,608.
The statement said that 122 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 102,390.
The infections and deaths rates have been on the rise since early November, with daily infection cases ranging from 200-300, in comparison to a lower rates hovering between a 100-200 mark during August, September and October.
Egyptian officials have attributed the recent rise to the public's lack of commitment to preventive measures, acquiesing in the drop of the detected cases in the previous three months.
This is the ninth consecutive day for the country's health ministry to register daily infections toll more than the 300 cases.
Up to 2,532 people have been diagnosed with the deadly virus this week, up from 1,999 infections recorded last week.
A total of 87 fatalities have been recorded through this week, compared to the 92 fatalities recorded over the course of last week.
According to the health ministry's count, Cairo, Alexandria, Gharbiya, and Luxor are seeing the highest rates of coronavirus infections in the country, compared to South Sinai, Minya, Suez, and Ismailia governorates, which have seen a drop in infection rates.
