If Egypt maintains the same level of performance, it will become a beacon for investments, said Gurría

The Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Angel Gurría said on Wednesday his organisation lauds Egypt's economic success which was witnessed by all concerned international bodies.

This came during his meeting with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, who has been on a state visit to Paris since Sunday, a statement by the Egyptian presidency said.

Gurría pointed out that if Egypt maintains the same level of performance, it will become a beacon for investments and a pole for development in the world.

The OECD, officially established in 1961, is an intergovernmental economic organisation with 37 member countries. Together with governments, policy-makers and citizens, OECD works on finding solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges.

El-Sisi affirmed that the economic successes Egypt has witnessed could not have been achieved without the great support of the Egyptian people, who contributed directly to supporting the will of the state to implement economic reform measures.

This, El-Sisi added, is a catalyst for the state to continue its development efforts to provide a better future for current and future generations.

The presidential statement noted that El-Sisi discussed with Gurría the process of fruitful cooperation between Egypt and the OECD in science, technology and innovation, public governance, economic stability, monitoring and structural reform, sustainable development, statistics and follow-up.
