Egypt will continue its tireless efforts towards the Palestinian cause, as one of the constants of the Egyptian foreign policy, El-Sisi said

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed on Saturday the developments on efforts to revitalise the peace process and the negotiations on the Palestinian cause with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Al-Safadi, along with his Palestinian counterpart Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki.

El-Sisi affirmed that Egypt will continue its tireless efforts towards the Palestinian cause, as it is one of the constants of the Egyptian foreign policy, according to a statement by the Egyptian presidency.

During the meeting El-Sisi stressed the continuation of efforts in restoring the legitimate rights of Palestinian people and to establish their independent state according to international legitimacy references, taking into account the changes on the regional and international arenas during this recent period, the statement noted.

The Egyptian president also highlighted the importance of uniting Arab and international efforts to effectively move through the coming period in order to reactivate the mechanisms involved in the peace negotiations between the two parties, and to overcome the challenges from the past period.

This, El-Sisi added, comes in parallel with the efforts of the national reconciliation track and building bases of trust between the Palestinian parties, in order to consolidate the basic path of achieving this desired peace.

From their side, the Jordanian and Palestinian ministers expressed their appreciation for Egypt's relentless efforts and endeavours in support of the Palestinian cause, while hailing its steady and continuous historical role that aims at reaching a just and comprehensive solution for this cause.

They, said the statement, also referred to the Egyptian efforts in attempting to stabilise calmness in the Gaza Strip and to improve the humanitarian, living and economic conditions within the city. Moreover, they applauded Egypt’s efforts in bringing the reconciliation process to an end and in achieving political consensus among all Palestinian forces and factions.

Egypt’s Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady said that the meeting witnessed a consensus on continuing intensive consultations and coordination between all parties on various issues related to the Palestinian cause, especially with regard to returning to the track of bilateral negotiations, as well as following up on the next steps in terms of unifying the Palestinian ranks.

El-Sisi concluded the meeting by requesting to convey his greetings to his two brothers, King Abdullah II of Jordan, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, added Rady.
