El-Shennawi will miss Ahly's upcoming clashes against Arab Contractors, Pyramids FC, Smouha, and Talae El-Gaish


Ahly's in-form Keeper Mohamed El-Shennawi has been suspended for four games and fined due to his unsporting behaviour towards the referee of the league game against National Bank of Egypt, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Monday.

"Mohamed El-Shennawi was suspended for four-games and fined EGP 20,000 due to his unsporting behaviour towards the referee," read a statement on the EFA twitter account on Monday.

The Red Devils were held to goalless draw by National Bank of Egypt on Sunday in a game that saw the referee deny a goal for Ahly after a VAR review.

After the game, videos showed the international keeper enter in a verbal clash with the referee before lightly tugging on his arm while exiting the pitch.

El-Shennawi’s suspension is a huge blow for the African champions, given the importance of the 31-year-old, who produced many a strong display with the team.

He will miss Ahly's upcoming clashes against Arab Contractors, Pyramids FC, Smouha, andTalae El-Gaish.

Ahly are leading the league table with 17 points, one point ahead of Zamalek, who will face Gouna on Tuesday.
