Egypt has previously decided to make Thursday as an alternative day off to official holidays which fall in midweek in order to give citizens a longer weekend
Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly designated Thursday a paid day off for the tenth anniversary of the 25 January Revolution as well as Egypt's Police Day.
Monday, 25 January marks the tenth anniversary of the 2011 revolution. It also marks Police Day, which commemrates resistance by Egyptian police to British occupation forces in Ismailia in 1952.
However, Egypt has previously decided to make Thursday as an alternative day off to official holidays which fall in midweek in order to give citizens a longer weekend.
This approach, which was first introduced on the seventh anniversary of the 30 June revolution last year, applies to all national holidays except for Eid Al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha, and Christmas.
According to a statement published by the cabinet on Wednesday, Thursday will be a paid vacation for employees of the public and private sectors.
