Art Alert: Large selection of Japanese films to screen online in Egypt for limited time

The films will be screened between 26 February and 7 March according to the schedule released by the Japanese Film Festival


Between 26 February and 7 March, viewers from Egypt will be able to watch a selection of old and new Japanese films, with each film being available for 24 hours only.

The screenings are part of the Japanese Film Festival which aims to promote Japan’s cinema worldwide.

Theschedulereleased by the festival applies to 20 countries divided into groups. Some screenings have already ended while others are yet to be made available online.

Egypt is part of Group 5, alongside Germany, Spain, Italy, and Hungary.

The countries which have already benefitted from the screenings that took place between November 2020 and February 2021 are Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.

The line-up of films includes productions from the recent decade — dramas, comedies, thrillers, animated movies, etc. — as well as a few classic movies.

The organisers revealed on the website that“films are available for 24 hours only from the scheduled starting times. You will no longer be able to playback films when they reach the 24-hour expiration limit.”
