The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) said it launched on Tuesday five digital services on its website to receive consultation or complaints from citizens related to the consumption of pharmaceutical products.

The five services are available in Arabic on the authority’s website atwww.edaegypt.gov.eg. The authority vows on its website to maintain the confidentiality of the senders’ personal information and not disclose them “under any circumstances”.

The new services include one dubbed ‘Side Effect’, which allows citizens to report the side effects of medication, vaccines, cosmetics, or any medical supplies.

Another service, dubbed ‘Availability’, allows citizens to communicate with the EDA so that they inquire about the availability of medicine and pharmaceutical products in the market.

Users can also communicate with the EDA on the hotline number 15301.

A service, dubbed ‘Violation’, seeks to receive complaints from consumers and healthcare providers about pharmacies and the quality of pharmaceutical products.

Another service, dubbed ‘Inappropriate Commercials’ allows citizens to report violations related to drug marketing and advertising materials, including promotional, educational, or awareness-raising materials.

A specialised team from the EDA evaluates and follows up on the submitted reports to take the necessary measures and ensure that the information introduced to health care professionals and consumers are correct, reliable, updated, impartial, and non-misleading.

The last service is named ‘Drug Consultation’, which allows citizens to ask the EDA about information related to drugs and other pharmaceutical products.
