Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly discussed on Wednesday with Elena Panova, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cairo, means of strengthening ties with the UN and all its affiliated agencies to serve the country's development agenda.

The premier told Panova that completing the soon-to-be-announced country's structural reform program is a top priority.

Egypt seeks to diversify new and renewable energy sources, and complete transportation projects, water desalination, as well as digital transformation, Madbouly told Panova.

The premier also reviewed during the meeting the presidential Decent Life Initiative, the national project for developing the neediest Egyptian villages, which will be implemented within the coming three years toimprove the quality of life of 58 million people.

Meanwhile, Panova said she is looking forward to promoting cooperation between the UN and Egypt, which she said is a pivotal state in the Middle East and Africa.

She hailed the progress which Egypt realised in implementing the economic reform program, expounding that the program helped the Egyptian economy respond effectively to the coronavirus repercussions.

She noted Egypt is the sole country in the Middle East and North Africa that achieved a positive economic growth amid the pandemic.

She commended measures adopted by the government to help various segments of the population in the face of the pandemic.

Panova also extolled President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's initiative for developing Egyptian villages, saying the Decent Life initiative will improve education and health and employment rates for a large segment of the population.
