Egyptian ministers open 2nd phase of the Holy Family Route project

Development operations included renovating the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sakha, Kafr El-Sheikh


Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi stressed the importance of the project to develop the route of the Holy Family in Egypt from the political, historical, religious and cultural perspectives.


The minister's statements came during the inauguration of the second phase of the project in Kafr El-Sheikh where Shaarawi, accompanied by Minister of Antiquities and Tourism Khaled El-Anani, visited the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sakha.

The development operation included renovating the church and embellishing the main street between the university and the station by illuminating and planting trees leading to the church.

Shaarawi said the route of the Holy Family is one of the most important national projects his ministry has been supervising in cooperation with the Ministry of Antiquities and Tourism.

He added that the project reaffirms Egypt's respect for history and heritage represented in the Holy Family.
