Egypt's team director Mohamed Barakat praised the players performance after the 4-0 win against Comoros on Monday in the Nations Cup qualifiers but believes that winning the group is something normal for the seven-time African Champions.

“I will not exaggerate in celebrating winning the group that includes Kenya, Comoros and Togo. It is a normal situation. We are working step by step, and we qualified for the AFCON in which the best 24 teams on the continent will participate,” he added.

Egypt defeated Comoros 4-0 in the last round of qualifiers to top the Group G with 12 points, 3 ahead of second-placed Comoros.

“I congratulate the players for their large win. We could have realised a larger victory. We started the game with full concentration as nobody was pleased with out performance against Kenya especially coach Hossam El-Badry,” Barakat told local radio station.

“We scored four goals in the first 25 minutes, and in the second half we decided to make some substitutions to give the chance for more players as were are looking forward for the World Cup qualifiers that will start in June, he added.

Barakat, a former Egypt winger, revealed that they are planning to play friendly games during the next international break in June to prepare for the qualifiers.
