Thousands are expected to participate in 'Final Friday' which will seeprotesters march from six main locations around Cairo to the week-long sit-in outside of the Ministry of Defence, as well as a protest in Tahrir Square, against the ruling military council.

Protesters will march from Fateh mosque in Ramses, the Nour mosque in Abbasiya, the Khazandarah mosque in Shubra, Rabea El-Adawiya mosque in Madinat Nasr, Youssef El-Sahabi mosque in Helipolis and Tahrir Square. They will travel to the week-long protest outside of the Ministry of Defence.

Separately called for by the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom And Justice Party (FJP) and a coalition of 15 political groups, including April 6 Youth Movement, Friday's demonstrationcame in response to Wednesday's bloody attack on the Abbasiya sit-in by unknown assailants, which saw over 7 people killed and over 90 injured.

Many groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood, presidential candidates and liberal parties hold the military responsible as they claim the army failed to intervene to protect protesters.

The coalition of 15 political parties who announced "Final Friday" are also calling for the repeal of Article 28 of the March 2011 Constitutional Declaration and for an independent body of judges, who were not appointed by the former regime, to monitor upcoming presidential elections.

In a Thursday press conference, a ruling military council spokesperson stated that people have the right to protest peacefully but these protests should take place in Tahrir Square, not by military facilities, as this could endanger protesters.
