Ahly are second of Group A with eight points, five points behind leaders Simba

With both sides having ensured their qualification for the Champions League quarter finals, Ahly will be looking for a win against Simba of Tanzania in the final round of the Group stage at El-Salam stadium in Cairo on Friday.

The Tanzanian side gave Ahly their only defeat in the Champions league this season beating them 1-0 at home last moth leaving the defending champions with an appetite for revenge.

Ahly are second of Group A with eight points, five points behind leaders Simba who granted their place in the competition's last eight as group leaders.

"Tomorrow's game result does not mean anything for the qualification, but it means a lot for our supporters," Ahly's coach Pitso Mosimane told the pre-match news conference on Thursday.

"Coming second means also the qualification. We have to look at it positively. Last season, we were playing to qualify against Al Hilal in the last game and we managed to qualify and win the title," he added.

Following an impressive performance against AS Vita Club 3-0 in Congo, the Red Devils were held to a frustrating draw against bottom-side El-Merrikh of Sudan last Saturday.

A last-gasp header from defender Yasser Ibrahim gave Ahly a 2-2 draw against the Sudanese giants who are yet to grab their first win of the group.

Ibrahim will miss the game due to injury as South African coach Pitso Mosimane revealed his 22 man-list for Friday's clash that saw his absence alongside winger Mahmoud 'Kahraba' Abdel-Moneim who was dropped from the squad despite finishing a one-month club ban due to disciplinary reasons.

On the other hand Simba will be looking to avoid loss as the Tanzanian side seek to keep their clean sheet in the Group stages.

Simba and South African side Sundowns are the only among the 16 teams in the Group stages that have not conceded any defeats in the continental competition so far.

"Being a big team, Simba are ready to earn a positive result wherever they play," Simba SC Communications Officer Haji Manara told reporters on Thursday.

"Our main target will be to get the best possible result in Cairo."

"Ahly want to prove they were unfortunate to lose in Tanzania and we want to prove that our previous results were deserved by winning in Cairo." he concluded.
