Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held political consultations via video conference on Thursday with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said in a tweet that the two sides discussed bilateral relations and exchanged viewpoints about regional issues of mutual concern.
Hafez said the two ministers praised the level of cooperation between the two countries and expressed keenness on pushing them forward in all fields to live up to the aspirations of the two peoples and the strength of historical relations.
Hafez said that Shoukry renewed Egypt's support for a UN-sponsored solution to the Western Sahara problem in line with Security Council resolution 2351.
The political consultations between the two sides also dealt with the Palestinian cause as the Moroccan minister supported efforts aimed at resuming peace talks to establish an independent Palestinian state as part of the proposed two-state solution.
They also discussed the Libyan file where the two ministers agreed to intensify contacts aiming at reaching a comprehensive solution to the Libya conflict.
According to Hafez, Shoukry posted the Moroccan minister on the latest developments of the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam problem, pointing out that Shoukry appreciated the Moroccan stances supporting Egypt.
They also agreed to intensify coordination within the framework of the African Union and promote peace and security in the African continent to overcome threats the continent is facing.
