Egypt’s U-23 coach Shawky Gharib called up Galatasaray striker Mostafa Mohamed and winger Omar Marmoush, who plays for Bundesliga 2 side St Pauli, to join the young Pharaohs’ final training camp for the Olympic Games.

“The Olympic team's technical staff officially called up Mohamed and Marmoush to join the training camp in June ahead of selecting the final squad for the Olympic Games,” the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

Egypt were drawn in a tough group alongside heavyweights Spain, Argentina, and Australia in the draw for the summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, which will be held in July.

Mohamed, 23, has been delivering outstanding performances since he joined Turkish side Galatasaray on loan last January, netting nine goals in 16 appearances.

Mohamed played a key role in helping Egypt reach the Olympics after winning the U-23 African Cup of Nations on home soil in 2019.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Marmoush, who joined St Pauli on a six-month loan deal from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, has scored seven goals so far this season in Bundesliga 2.

Egypt will play their group stage games against Spain on 22 July, Argentina on 25 July, and Australia on 28 July.
