Ahly's influential left-back Ali Maaloul is expected to be fit for the 2020 African Super Cup game against Moroccan side RS Berkane after recovering from a hamstring injury, club's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz announced.

The Tunisian international has been out of action since picking up the injury in Ahly's 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final on 8 February.

"Maaloul will undergo medical scans before traveling to South Africa to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals," Abdel-Hafiz told a TV show.

"We aim to make sure of Maaloul's availability ahead of the African Super Cup game against RS Berkane,"

Ahly are scheduled to face South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, six days before traveling to Qatar to face Moroccan side RS Berkane in the 2020 CAF Super Cup.

Maaloul has been an indispensable member of Ahly's squad since joining from Tunisian side Sfaxien in the summer of 2016.

The 31-year-old, who scored 24 goals and provided 43 assists in 148 appearances with Ahly in all competitions, won with the team four Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egypt Cups and a Champions League crown.

Ahly, who have a record of six Super Cup win, claimed the Champions League after defeating arch-rivals Zamalek 2-1 in the final last month, while RS Berkane won the Confederation Cup at the expense of Egyptian team Pyramids FC.
