Lab tests will be completed in full on 14 June and the first edition of the vaccine will be produced on 15 June
Egypt will produce its first doses of China's Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine on 15 June, the country's health minister said on Sunday.
Dr. Hala Zayed told Al Hekaya TV show that Egypt has received the first amount of the raw material of the vaccine to produce 2 million doses.
After the production, the vaccines will be subjected to study to ensure their efficiency and then laboratory analyses are to be rolled out.
"Eleven types of lab tests are to be conducted, nine of which have been completed," she added.
The minister said that the tests will be 100% completed on 14 June and the first edition of the vaccine will be produced on 15 June.
She expects the vaccine to be ready for public use within six weeks of the production process.
She added that Egypt will receive 3,000 liters of Sinovac raw materials late this month to produce 4.2 million doses.
"Starting next month the Sinovac vaccine will be available on the Egyptian market," she said, adding that 40 million doses will be produced by the end of this year.
