Art Alert: Reviving the works of late Egyptian iconic singer Abdel Halim Hafez with a hologram concert
Ahram Online, , Saturday 12 Jun 2021
Two hologram concerts featuring famed late Egyptian singer and actor Abdel Halim Hafez come to Cairo following their great success in Dubai

The concerts will take place at the performance hall of the Mall of Arabia on Thursday and Friday. They will usehologram technology and 3D projection mapping techniques bringing back to life the Egyptian 'dark-skinned nightingale' as he was often referred to due to his soft and tender voice.

A 90-min hologram concert was staged at the Dubai Opera House last month and its great success prompted the organizer to bring it to Cairo.

"The show aims to revive his work and preserve the Arab musical heritage," reads the note of the organizers. In fact, Dubai concert's success led the organizers to hold two additional nights the same month.

This is not the first time for Egyptian audiences to be offered Abdel Halim Hafez in hologram technology. One such concert took place back in 2019 at Manara hall, and was joined by Lebanese singer Carol Samaha.

Abdel Halim Hafez is considered one of the greatest Arab musicians of all time. Though he died at the age of 47 in 1977, he continues to be loved by millions across all Arab countries with his legendary voice filling the households until date.
