Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi waved goodbye to Zamalek in an Instagram post on Thursday, ending his journey with the Cairo giants.

The 29-year-old midfielder was one of the main pillars of the White Knights since he joined the team three years ago, which very quickly made him a fan-favorite star.

"I thank Zamalek, the fans, the staff, and the players for all the support and the love in the best period on my life. We've lived together through tough moments and beautiful moments, winning titles, and this is life," said Sassi.

"I wish for Zamalek to win all the competitions in the next period from the depths of my heart," he concluded.

Zamalek President Hussein Labib revealed earlier that the club had informed Sassi's lawyer that they would not pursue any further negotiations to renew the Tunisian's contract after several attempts, which had all reached dead ends.

"We will deal with Sassi's matter legally in a way the preserves Zamalek’s rights, and we have many good players to compensate for his departure. We have been playing already without him for more than a month and we are performing well," Labib told Zamalek TV.

Zamalek had been involved in months-long negotiations with Sassi over a new deal but to no avail, leaving the door open for his departure this summer after the end of his current contract.

The Tunisian international joined Zamalek in the summer of 2018 after signing a three-year contract with club.

The talented midfielder played 102 games with Zamalek, scoring 16 goals.

It is rumoured Sassi will join teams from Turkey and Qatar for his upcoming move.
