His appointment comes within the newly formed 24-member cabinet that was announced byNajib Mikati, Lebanon’s latest prime minister, last Fridayfollowing a one-year scramble to form a government.

Kurdahi’s career goes back to 1970, when he began working for Lisan Al-Hal,the oldest Arabic language daily newspaper in Lebanon.

He then moved to Télé Liban, Lebanon’s public TV network, in 1973, where he continued working until the start of the Lebanese Civil War two years later.

Fleeing the war, Kurdahi immigrated to France, where he joined Radio Monte Carlo in Paris as an editor-in-chief in 1979.

His other commitments included being a host in Sharq Radio Station in Paris in 1992 and MBC FM in London in 1994.

In 2004, Kurdahi returned to Lebanon to join the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation, becoming one of the best-known faces of Lebanese media.

A year later, MBC asked Kurdahi to return and host a couple of programmes from their line-up at the time.

He remained in MBC until 2011, when he left the station after making statements supporting the Syrian government, saying that “there was a conspiracy against the Syrian government orchestrated by multiple Arab TV stations.”

In 2012, Kurdahi joined Al-Hayat TV to present various TV-shows, including ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’, ‘Al-Mosameh Karim’, and ‘Hafez Wala Fahem?’.
