Ahly’s Da Silva fined for late arrival at training

Mauritanian Dominique Da Silva fined for arriving late at training on Friday in further problem for striker who has failed to make an impact since signing from Tunisia’s Sfaxien in January 2011

Dominique Da Silva has been fined by Ahly for showing up late for training, the club said on Friday.

“Football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz has decided to impose a fine on Dominique after he turned up late for the morning training session,” Ahly said in a brief statement on their official website without disclosing the amount of the fine.

The Mauritanian striker has failed to establish himself as a regular starter since joining Ahly from Tunisian side Sfaxien in January 2011. Despite his pace and physical prowess, Dominique has been criticised for his wastefulness in front of goal.

He was also criticised recently for some disciplinary problems, having been involved in a scuffle with teammate Ahmed Shokry during training in June.

Dominique came on as a second-half substitute during Ahly’s 1-1 African Champions League draw at Ghana’s Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.

He squandered a golden opportunity to score when he broke clear after running onto a neat long ball, only to send his lob over the bar.
