'Washing Machine' is a festival for visual and performing arts, bringing graffiti, music, short films, and dance to the streets of Alexandria on 14 September from 3pm to 10 pm.
The bands scheduled to perform are Krakeeb, Shawara3na, Revolution Records, Puzzle, Ze Khodz, and more. Alex Crew will be break dancing on the day. There will also be a graffiti team and video installations.
Another street art festival held in Egypt is El-Fan Midan, which launched in the aftermath of the January 25 Revolution and aims to bring art closer to ordinary citizens.
Shaware3na or 'Our Streets' was another project that sought to take contemporary art to the streets. Shaware3na was created by an organisation named Mahatat (transportation stops) for Contemporary Art, which brought different types of art to Cairo’s busy streets.
