Coach Hossam El-Badry could rest midfielder Ahmed Fathi for Sunday's match against Mazembe in African Champions League to avoid him picking up a second yellow

Hossam El-Badry might omit midfielder Ahmed Fathi from Ahly's squad for the African Champions League group match against TP Mazembe on Sunday because the team have already qualified for the semifinal, the Cairo giants announced on Saturday.

"After Zamalek and Berekum Chelsea's 1-1 draw on Saturday, which meant we secured a place in the semis of the CAF Champions League, El-Badry is considering sidelining Ahmed Fathi for the Mazembe game," read a statement on Ahly's official website.

"Fathi could be sidelined because he has a yellow card and the coach is worried that he might pick up a second yellow which would lead to a two-match ban," the statement concluded.

The six-time African champions are currently leading Group B with ten points, three ahead of TP Mazembe, while Ghanaian side Chelsea are third with six points and Zamalek are bottom with one point.
