The exhibition at the Katara Gallery in Doha, Qatar, includes works by Andy Warhol and Francis Bacon
Sotheby's will host an exhibition of contemporary art at the Katara Gallery located in Doha's Katara Cultural Village, on 21-22 October.
The show features 16 masterpieces by some of the foremost American and European contemporary painters from the post-war era, to be offered for sale on 13 November in New York.
A wide spectrum of contemporary styles are showcased at Doha; from abstract works by Richter to works by American abstract expressionists to Andy Warhol's iconic pop art.
Among the exhibition's highlights is Gerhard Richter's abstract painting Abstraktes Bild (712), which is estimated to sell for more than $16 million. Other significant pieces on display include Francis Bacon’s Pope Paintings (estimated to get $18-25 million), and Andy Warhol's The Kiss (estimated at $4.5- 6.5 million).
The Katara Cultural Village Foundation in Doha hosts international, regional and local festivals, workshops, performances and exhibitions to generate cultural awareness in the state of Qatar.
