Egypt President Mohamed Morsi will deliver a speech at the Shura Council Saturday, shortly after appointing 90 members in the upper chamber of parliament

Egypt President Mohamed Morsi will deliver a speech Saturday at a Shura Council session, Ahmed Fahmi, head of the parliamentary upper chamber announced on Wednesday.

Fahmi in Wednesday's session called on all members to attended the anticipated Saturday session.

Morsi has recently appointed 90 members to the Shura Council, which was elected last winter and whose majority seats was secured by the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood.

President Morsi used to be a leading figure of the Brotherhood and the FJP before assuming power.

The parliamentary upper chamber, which was protected from dissolution by a controversial presidential decree last month, will have the legislative authority until a new lower house of parliament is elected within two months after nearly 64 per cent of Egyptians approved the new constitution.

The lower house, the People's Assembly that should boast the legislative authority, was dismantled last June after the High Constitutional Court declared the law that regulated last parliamentary elections unconstitutional.
