Ahly strengthen their midfield by signing a youngster called Hossam Ghaly, the same name of the Red Devil’s veteran central midfielder
Ahly have signed youngster Hossam Ghaly on a five-year contract from lower division side Tanta, the Cairo giants said.
"Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry agreed to sign Tanta midfielder Hossam Ghaly on a five-year deal," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The Ahly manager is considering registering the player in the team's African Champions League squad.”
The 20-year-old helped Egypt’s youth national team book a place at the 2013 African Cup of Nations.
Ahly’s squad already boasts another Hossam Ghaly, one of the team’s experienced and key players who is nursing a serious knee injury he sustained during the Club World Cup campaign last month.
The Red Devils are currently preparing for the new Egyptian Premier League season, which will start on 2 February after months of uncertainty over whether it would go ahead, given the country’s ongoing political turmoil.
