More than two million users will access Microsoft products in the US Department of Defense
The US Army has reached a three-year licensing agreement withMicrosoft, covering 75 per cent of the Department of Defense (DoD) personnel with the newest versions of Microsoft products, the the global leading technology corporation announced on Friday.
DoD added that the new deal, worth $617 million, will benefit more than two million information technology users.
The agreement provides threebranches of the department:Army, Air Force and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) with a single vehicle for accessing the latest Microsoft technologies.
“Microsoft has longstanding relationships with the US Army, the US Air Force and DISA, and we are honoured to expand our support of ongoing technology modernisation efforts across all three organisations,” General Manager Tim Solms says in Microsoft's announcement.
“This agreement enables us to provide the best technology tools to an incredibly broad range of servicemen and servicewomen across the DoD, and we are looking forward to implementing to support their mission goals.”
