Tunisian side Esperance and DR Congo's TP Mazembe fail to take first-leg advantages in the CAF Champions League round of 16 on Saturday

Last year's finalists Esperance Sportive de Tunis were held to a goalless draw by JSM Bejaia in Algeria in first-leg of the African Champions League round of 16 on Saturday.

The Tunisian giants, who lost to Egypt's Ahly in the finale last year, will host JSM Bejaiain the second leg on 4 May.

DR Congo's TP Mazembe, four-time African champions, lost 3-1 to Orlando Pirates of South Africa away from home.

Orlando Pirates forward Onyekachi Okonkwo scored the first goal after two minutes to give his side an early lead but Mulota Patou Kabangu brought Mazembe level before the break.

In the second half, Orlando Pirates' Collins Mbesuma scored twice in the 57th and 90th minutes to give the South African outfit a first-leg advantage.

TP Mazembe are scheduled to host Orlando Pirates in the second leg on 5 May.
