Police officers in Egypt deny strike
Ahram Portal, Tuesday 8 Mar 2011
It's the turn of Egypt's police to use Facebook to communicate with the public as they accuse the media of harming their integrtity in the eyes of Egyptians

A number of police officers announced on the Egyptian cabinet's Facebook page that, contrary to reports, they will not be striking next Saturday.

The officers stated that they are working at full capacity as they try to make Egypt as safe as it has always been.

Officers appealed for the media to stop spreading rumours and support them rather than besmirching them and making their relationship with ordinary citizens more tense.

The Facebook statement comes after claims were made that police officers would strike next Saturday. The strike was reported to be a result of being widely accused by the Egyptian public of treason and subjecting citizens to humiliation.
