The Mauritanian striker hopes to progress at Ahly

Ahly's Mauritanian striker Dominique Da Silva has turned down an offer to join Sudanese giants Merrikh.

"With all my respects for Merrikh but I am playing in the biggest team in Africa. Their offer was good but not satisfactory for me at this point of my career.

"Now that I have started playing with Ahly again, I hope I can build on that and continue improving," Da Silva told the club's official website.

Blessed with strength and speed, Da Silva joined Ahly in 2011. The former Esperance striker, who will turn 24 in August, sustained several injuries that hampered his stay and was reportedly on the move.

However lately former coach Hossam El-Badry then his successor Mohamed Youssef gave him more playing time.

"I don't have any other offers now. I am focusing on Ahly and hope I could book a spot in the starting lineup," he concluded.
