Pharaohs striker starts new era in football career after signing with Al-Salmiya, four-time Kuwaiti league title winners
Egypt striker Amr Zaki has officially signed with Kuwaiti club Al-Salmiya SC, to begin next season.
"I have officially signed with Al-Salmiya for one season, wish me luck," the 30-year-old attacker said via Twitter on Tuesday.
Former Zamalek and Wigan striker Amr Zaki was released by Turkish side Elazigspor last January after failing to make an impact during his six-month spell in the Turkish league.
He returned to Egypt to play for his former club, ENPPI, but he left them after a few days.
Zaki made his debut with Egypt's senior football team in 2004, guiding them to win the African Nations Cup in 2006 and 2008.
He wasn't included in the current Pharaohs squad competing for the 2014 World Cup's Africa qualifications because he has not played with a club since February.
Four-time Kuwaiti league title winners Al-Salmiya ended this season's domestic tournament in seventh place with 19 points, 34 points behind winners Al-Kuwait.
Their last domestic trophy was the 2001 cup.
