Investigations continue into police shootings of demonstrators as three officers currently face detention for allegedly causing the deaths of tens of protesters


Three officers accused of shooting live ammunition at demonstrators in Alexandria have been detained on Thursday and have been handed a fifteen day detention pending investigation.

The officers have allegedly caused the deaths of tens of demonstrators and have injured many more during the Egyptian uprising which began on 25 January.

Officer Wael Komy is accused of killing 37 protesters, while the two other officers, Motaz Askalany and Mohamed Safaan, are accused of killing tens. The exact numbers have not yet been confirmed.
