Pharaohs playmaker returns to help Zamalek in campaign for first continental title since 2002

Playmaker Mahmoud Abdel-Razek 'Shikabala' will boost Zamalek against rivals Ahly after being included in the Whites squad for the anticipated African derby.

The 27-year-old player recently rejoined the Cairo giants after ending a one-year loan spell with UAE's Al-Wasl.

Abdel-Razek was awaiting official registration before he could be made available for the match, which was recently finalised by new coach Helmi Tolan.

Zamalek will be hosting Ahly at the African Champions League group stage opener.

The highly anticipated showdown will be held behind closed doors at El-Gouna Stadium, 22km north of Hurghada’s International Airport.

Ahly are eyeing a second successive Champions League triumph, while success-starved Zamalek are chasing their first continental title since 2002.

Midfielders: Ahmed Hassan, Omar Gaber, Hazem Emam, Ahmed Tawfik, Nour El-Said, Islam Awad, Saied Mohamed 'Otta', Shikabala

Strikers: Ahmed Eid Abdel-Malek, Ahmed Gafar, Mohamed Ibrahim.
