Red Devils forced to play Champions League match at Gouna Stadium during Ramadan fasting hours

Ahly will host South Africa's Orlando Pirates on 4 August at Gouna Stadium, security authorities informed the club on Wednesday.

Earlier this week, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rejected Ahly's request to postpone the African Champions League game until 9 August to give them a chance to find a more suitable host stadium.

Following the CAF's refusal, the Red Devils were searching for a flood-lit stadium so they could play at night due to Ramadan fasting as had happened in the first round against Zamalek last week.

Negotiations with different stadiums officials failed and the Cairo giants will be obliged to play the game as scheduled.

Gouna is a Red Sea resort 430km away from the capital.

Ramadan is the holy month for Muslims in which they do not eat or drink between dawn and dusk.

Champions League Group A is level after the first round, with Zamalek-Ahly (1-1) and Orlando Pirates-AC Leopards (0-0).
