Gedo, Elmohamady and Mohamed Salah are among 10 foreign-based players called up for Pharaohs training camp in preparation for clash against Ghana in World Cup qualifiers
Egypt has called up ten foreign-based players for a training camp ahead of the 2014 World Cup qualifier playoff against Ghana on 15 October.
Under the helm of American coach Bob Bradley, the Egyptian team, who are eager to end a 24-year World Cup drought, will start their preparations on 26 September for the crucial clash against Ghana in the first leg of the World Cup qualifying playoffs.
The Pharaohs, who were the only side to collect maximum points in the group stage of the African World Cup qualifiers, will meet Ghana on 15 October in Kumasi.
"Our preparations will start on 26 September in Cairo," the Pharaohs' goalkeeping coach Zaki Abdel-Fattah told Ahram Sports.
"We will hold a training camp until 9 October. We have also asked the Egyptian Football Association to arrange two friendly games on 29 September and 2 October," he added.
Egypt are eyeing their first World Cup appearance since 1990, while Ghana are seeking to reach the tournament for the third consecutive time, having reached the quarter finals in their last tournament in 2010.
The 10 foreign-based players are as follows:
Defenders: Adam El-Abd: (Brighton - Engalnd)
Midfielders: Ahmed Elmohamady (Hull City - England), Mohamed El-Neny (Basel - Switzerland), Ibrahim Salah (Al Orouba – Saudi Arabia), Hossam Ghaly (Lierse - Belgium), Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim 'Kahraba' (FC Luzern - Belgium)
Strikers: Mohamed Nagy 'Gedo' (Hull City - England), Ahmed Hassan 'Koka' (Rio Ave FC - Portugal), Mohamed Salah (Basel - Switzerland), Amr Zaki (Al-Salmiya - Kuwait).
