Russia permits flights to Egypt

Minister of Tourism Mounir Fakhry Abdel-Nour welcomes Russia's move to ‎allow flights to Egypt after weeks of unrest


Minister of Tourism Mounir Fakhry Abdel-Nour said Thursday that Russia has finally ‎allowed flights to Egypt.‎

Russian authorities prevented flights to the country in the wake of turmoil during the 25 ‎January Revolution that led to the ouster former President Hosni Mubarak. ‎

Russia’s decision to hold off flights took its toll on Egypt's tourism revenue over the past weeks.‎ In 2010, ‎‏2.85 million Russian tourists visited to the country.‎With security relatively returned, Russia has finally allowed it citizens ‎to fly to Egypt again.‎

For years, Russians have comprised the majority of tourists in Egypt.‎
