Jose Mourinho highlights some of the qualities Mohamed Salah brings to the Chelsea frontline

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has underlined the significance of Mohamed Salah's speed on the break – an attribute most of his other forwards lack.

Ahead of Chelsea's mouth-watering league clash with Manchester City, Mourinho spoke to the Blues' official website of how unique his "fleet-footed" new winter singing's abilities are.

"Unlike most of our forwards, Salah likes to sprint into space behind defences," the 51-year-old boss said.

"Of course that presents an option against teams playing with a high backline."

21-year-old Salah, who missed Chelsea's goalless home draw with West Ham last week, could now make the squad for the Man City showdown at Ettihad Stadium after finally obtaining his work permit.

The Egypt player's inclusion, however, is not guaranteed as his last competitive game for Basel was on 14 December last year.

Salah joined the reigning Europa League champions for a reported fee of £15 million on a five-and-a-half year deal to become the youngest Egyptian to ever play in the Premier League.
