Lebanon's consumer price inflation rose to 5.8 per cent year-on-year in February, mainly due to a rise in clothing and footwear costs, government statistics department figures showed.
The figures also showed the CPI index increased 0.6 per cent between December 2010 and February.
The statistics department said it could not provide inflation figures for January.
Clothing and footwear prices rose 27.3 per cent year-on-year. Water, electricity, gas and other fuel costs rose 14 per cent, followed by restaurants and and hotels at 7 per cent.
Lebanon kept inflation below 5 per cent in 2010 and projects it to drop to 2.8 per cent by the end of 2011.
