As part of the second edition of India by the Nile, Indian Film Panorama will screen six movies between 11 and 16 April


Indian Film Panorama, which will take place between 11 and 16 April, is part of the second edition of India by the Nile, a festival showcasing a selection of Indian performing and visual arts, music and filmsin Cairo (11 - 20 April) , Alexandria and Hurghada.

In addition to the screenings, renowned Indian actress Shabana Azmi, who is visiting Cairo, will hold a discussion session on 11 April at the Artistic Creativity Centre.

Javed Akhtar, Indian poet and songwriter, will hold a discussion on 'The Song in Indian Cinema' on 12 April.

All the movies will be screened at 6pm at the Artistic Creativity Centre located at the Cairo Opera House's grounds.

Friday 11 April

Godmother (1999)

Starring: Shabana Azmi, Milind Gunaji, Nirmal Pandey

Inspired by the life of Santokben Jadeja, a woman who headed an underworld enterprise in India, the movie follows Rambhi, an Indian housewife who rises from her household responsibilities to become a powerful politician.

Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), romance comedy

Starring: Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Manu Rishi Chadha
Running Time: 140 minutes

The movie is about two wedding planners who achieve success as partners but their differences turn them into bitter rivals.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (Run Milkha Run, 2013), biographical sports drama
